AUTHOR

My name is Vojin Mastruko. Before retirement I was a Forensic Ballistic Expert and Gunshot Residue (GSR) Expert in Forensic Centre in Zagreb, Croatia as well as Expert Witness in Court. Since 2004. I act as an independent forensic ballistic expert and Court Ballistic Expert Witness.

During my 22 years of practice as a Ballistic Expert Witness I realized it is hard to give a verbal explanation during Courtroom session regarding position and posture of a suspect and a victim in a moment a bullet hit the victim. Visual tools seem to be much more appropriate to illustrate possible scenarios of the particular shooting incident.

The first ballistic expert who used this visual approach in Mitchell brothers homicide case, Marin County, California in 1993. was ALEXANDER JASON. It was the first ballistic computer simulation ever allowed in a murder trial.

On Zeno's Forensic Site  (http://forensic.to./forensic.html)  there is a list of links to various companies, mostly from US, dealing with forensic animations.

I am a member of Digital Imaging  Working Group of European Network of Forensic Science Institutes (ENFSI)  and a member of European Academy of Forensic Science (EAFS) since 2000.

My aim is to inform Forensic Ballistic Community about this interesting technique and to find a group of colleagues willing to promote this idea among Forensic Scientists in Forensic Institutes.

I started a Forensic 3D Discussion Group on Yahoo portal (http://www.group.yahoo.com/) on 2001. Web Page of the group is http://groups.yahoo.com/group/forensic3D and Group e-mail is forensic3D@yahoogroups.com. This group is restricted just for members. Members can freely exchange information, chat, upload and download all type of files. To became a member you must be proposed by already existing member or invited by me as a owner of the group. All interested colleagues are welcome.
